Last gatefold...for now

This is the last of the bunch of gatefold cards that I made. I was trying to use up some scrap papers and found these really pretty DP's in reds. Kind of looks like a Valentine card yeah? This card was given to my friend Wanida over at the HSFCU for her bday, Happy Birthday Wanida! The close up...
After I took the pic, I realized that this card was really plain, so I added some bling to it. I'll have more to share tomorrow...Happy Wednesday!

Cute lil' holder and a tutorial for it!

This idea popped in my head one day as I was looking to make something cute to hold the photo CD I was giving to Cheryl after we went out to her bday lunch. I know it might sound silly to want to make something just for a CD, but you know me! Here's what I came up with for Cheryl's CD. I used the leftover DP from her card and one of the Ketto images that I had on hand already colored!
Ooh! Also want to share with you the really awesome stamp set I bought from my GF Jean who is a CTMH (Close to my Heart) consultant. Don't you just love the words in this set?? I used Captured Moments for Cheryl's bday photo CD; pretty perfect for the occasion. To order this really awesome stamp set, you can contact Jean HERE...
I loved this CD holder so much (because it was super easy to make!) I made another one to send to my GF Michelle. Here's the one I made for Michelle.
Love this Greetings Farm image, I think her name is Dahlia? The sentiment is a Hero Arts clear stamp and the bling is also from a Hero Arts mini stamp set that came with this flower bling!
Because this holder is so easy to make, I want to share how to make it with you!

Start with a piece of cardstock 6 1/2" X 11". Score 1/2" from each side (portrait), turn the CS and score at 5 1/4" and 5 3/4" (landscape).
Make small cuts just up to the 1/2" score line as shown on both sides. Sorry my photo is using a different colored CS. I forgot to take a pic of this step when I was making the yellow holder...
Place adhesive as shown.
Adhere the sides.
It should look like this when you adhere both sides.
For the cover, cut a piece of DP 5" X 5 1/2". Score at 3 1/2" and 4".
Add adhesive to the small flap as shown.
Adhere to box.
Put a strip of adhesive on the inside of the flap.
Add a piece of ribbon over the adhesive to make a handle.
Then, add a small piece of velcro. Here I added the image on a circle so I placed the velcro on the circle.
Fold the cover closed so that the other portion of the velcro sticks to the box.
That's it! You can make this box any size by following the same instructions with smaller cardstock.
Here's the close-up of the image...
Thanks for sitting through my tutorial! I hope some of you will try it out. These little boxes make great holders for little treats! It's the start of a new week! Short week for me - 4th of July celebration at the end of the week, so we have Friday off...

Sneak Peek for July's card class!

Announcement for July's class - THE CLASS HAS MOVED TO SATURDAY, JULY 11 AND SUNDAY JULY 12. I totally forgot about the 4th of July weekend. Some of you go on picnics or spend time with your family. Not that I wasn't planning to, but I though moving it to the following week might be good since my first furlough day will be on Friday, July 10 and I am planning a small gathering for anyone who could attend. That announcement will be in a day or so... On to the sneak peek!
My July class will be featuring all of the NEW IN-COLORS and some of the new stamp sets as well. THE NEW CATALOG IS OUT and I will have them for sale at the class if you did not receive one yet. Here's a sneak peek of the cards we will be making. We will be making 2 thank you cards, 2 thinking of you cards and 2 sympathy cards. I finished them all on Saturday night and was very pleased with the results. I know you will love them too! If you are interested in joining me for my July card class on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday July 12 at my home (1:00 to 4:00 p.m.), please RSVP either by posting a comment here or sending me an email. If you are a new attendee to my classes, be sure to remind me to email you directions to my home. I will be making 20 kits only and reservations for a spot will be on a first come, first served basis so if you know you want to come to this class, RSVP now! Cost for this class is $20 if you are attending and $25 if you are ordering a kit. If you RSVP and not show up, your payment will still be expected and you will receive your kit. Demonstrators who are interested in attending will also need to RSVP as the classes are combined with demos and customers. You will pay your demonstrator fee. Please be sure to bring your tool kits with you. Bringing your own adhesive and tools are important as I do not have any inventory to sell to you at the class. And finally, just a reminder that sometimes, the traffic into Waimanalo can get a little heavy, so please allow some extra time to get to the class.
Had to share this pic of Mochiko. Whenever I work on my craft table, she HAS to sit with me and for some reason likes my cutter!! It's a good thing I have 2 cutters. Doesn't she look exhausted?? That's how I felt after finishing all of the cards last night!! haha! Aahhh, the life of a cat!
I hope to see you at my class on July 11 and 12. I will also have a bunch of retired stamp sets for sale!

Sweet RAK and Felix Ketto!

Happy Aloha Friday friends!! I received a sweet rak from Michelle this week. Michelle made her own version of the matchbox. This box was able to hold all of these sweet treats! Love the colors you used Michelle...is this the new Melon Mambo CS?? Great color combo and the butterfly is so pretty!! Michelle is a mind reader because I was "this close" to ordering the cute Felix Ketto stamp from Stamping Bella...can you see what was in my box?? I love it!! Also love the Hello Kitty items as well as flower embellishments. You spoil me rotten! Thank you SO MUCH Michelle!!! I sent you a little something today... So...I just HAD to use my new stamp! Here's the Thank you card I made for Michelle...Hope you like it and my surprise too! Felix is just too cute, I LOVE it!
Here's the close up...
This was another one of my morning creations. I know some of you think I'm totally nuts making a card right before I run out for my bus. I think this give me a good "rushed" feeling, and especially when it turns out good, know what I mean? I used my copic pens for the coloring, square nestie dies (pink pirouette), scrap (brown DP). Cardstock is regal rose and chocolate chip and pink bling. Ribbon is pink pirouette by SU.
Thanks for stopping by today. TGIF! Tomorrow is class planning day for July.
MY JULY CLASS WILL BE MOVED FROM JULY 4TH AND 5TH TO JULY 11TH AND 12TH. ALSO I WILL BE HAVING MY FIRST FURLOUGH DAY ON FRIDAY, JULY 10TH, SO THOUGHT IT WOULD BE KIND OF FUN TO HAVE, WELL, A "FUN DAY" FOR THOSE WHO CAN JOIN ME. MORE INFO TO FOLLOW THIS WEEKEND!!

Another Gatefold

Told you I was stuck on this card fold. When I learn something new, I make a bunch cuz it's so much fun. Today's card, I used The Greeting's Farm image Peace. Isn't she adorable? I tried to make her shirt have a tie-dye effect, but didn't do too well. It still turned out okay though. This card was sent to my GF Joyce for her birthday. Thanks for stopping by today!! Don't forget, today is the last day to sign up for July's one card swap! If you missed this sign up, stay tuned for August's sign up at the end of July.

Wonderful Couple

My niece asked me to make a wedding card for her and I totally forgot about it! I whipped up this card Friday morning before I left for work. I find it funny how I can create something that I actually like the results, in such a short time. Crazy!! I used this cute image by Dandelion Designs. So sweet, yeah? I like how I didn't have to do too much coloring on this image but it turned out pretty good. BTW, did you know that Dandelion Designs just released a whole new collection??? Check out their blog HERE to see more of the new releases! As a tradition, Jean gives away stamps from her new collection everyday while sharing her new releases so why not take a peek? You won't be disappointed!! All of the DP strips I used for this card are from my scrap collection. Amazing how I found colors that actually went well together! The sentiment is from a SU set called Wonderful Favorites. I was thrilled to find this cute adhesive heart bling.
It's the middle of the work week. Hope your week is going good so far! Thanks for looking today!

Card for Deb

When I saw posts on Rita's blog (read her post HERE) and Jen's blog (read her post HERE) about our friend Deb Golan, I just had to make her a card to cheer her up. I had just received this cute image and knew I wanted to use this image on my card for Deb. A close up...
I'm sure there is more room in Deb's mailbox for more cards! Want to send one? Check out Rita and Jen's blogs and contact them for Deb's address.
Thanks for stopping in today. It only takes a few minutes create and share some love. I'm sure Deb would love to hear from you!

My Sweetie

From the time I saw these Sweeties on Claudette's blog, I knew I wanted one. Of course, when I got the file, I didn't know how to use it because it was a png file. Just got the jpg file the other week and so here she is! Isn't this Sweetie so cute!? Made this card for my GF Joy. I love the green and purple. Used some scrap DP and my rectangle nesties to cut out the sweetie, also my eyelet border punch (SU).
If you like this Sweetie, you must check out the others. If you are interested in getting your own Sweetie, pop on over to Claudette's blog to see what's available. (Hopefully, the link to the sweeties work). Can you believe that they are only $5 each? These images are already colored, so you don't need to. Sometimes those are the best! Hey Dawney, I know these are your kind of images!! I just ordered four more! I can't wait to create with them!
Hope you are having a good Monday. See you tomorrow!

Father's Day get together and more shakers!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and that all the Dad's out there enjoyed Father's Day! We did our Father's Day dinner last night (Saturday) since I have to get to bed early tonight because tomorrow is a work day! Having my sisters and their family over for dinner is always fun. I ended up cooking a ham in my slow cooker and it turned out so yummy! After dinner, I taught 2 of my nieces how to make the double shaker boxes. My niece Jen loves to color and was delighted to use the copic markers. Now she says that's what she wants for her birthday! haha! Here's Jen-Jen and Ally with their DSB's.
Here's Jen's...look at the wonderful coloring!

A close up...

Here's Ally's...Ally used the Snuggle image that I already colored because she's not into coloring, yet!

The close-up...

Before everyone left, had to take a photo with my sisters and Dad! Happy Father's Day dad!! (haha! look at mom in the background. She didn't realize that we were taking pictures!)

I'll be posting a fun project with a tutorial this week! Also, don't forget, sign up for the July one card swap will close on Thursday, June 25th! Thanks for visiting today!!

Father's Day cards

I share all of my cards with my friend Cece on the bus. Alot of the other gals like to peek over our shoulders to see what I made and one of my friends asked if I could make her a Father's Day card for her boys to give to their dad. Here's what I came up with. I love this giraffe by Whipper Snapper Designs. This circle cuttlebug embossing folder is one of my favorites too! This second card is a card I put together for Eric to teach some of the students at his work place since he needed an arts and craft project. I haven't touched my Changito stamps forever and actually forgot that I had this one. I had to make the card simple these students have no experience in making cards. We made 50 kits and they loved it.
I'm still working on my card for Eric (from Nolan) and a card for my Dad. I guess I better hurry since we are having dinner tonight with the family. I will be posting those cards soon.
Thanks for coming by for a visit!!

Bug-a-boos

Second post for today...I just HAD to because I was so excited to share another gatefold card with you. I had so much fun coloring this cute little bee from the bug-a-boos collection by Gingersnaps. Got this cute set of three from Tamiko's. I added stickles to make my bee a little sparkly.DP pieces from my scrap bin and at first I thought they didn't really match, but they kinda do...somehow the colors just made me happy. I'm really liking my rectangle nesties dies...although I get excited when I see everyone using all of the new nesties, I really wanted to stick with the basic shapes. We'll see how long I hold out from getting any new shapes!
Hopefully, I'll be able to make more fun cards this weekend to take my mind off of the 3 day furlough that we were informed about that will start come July 1st. I'm actually okay with it and know that I'll make whatever adjustments necessary to survive the 2 years that these furlough days will be imposed on us - at least I still have my job, right?! It kind of means I need to watch my unnecessary spending (boo hoo!) but I'm sure I have enough stuff to last me quite a while (happy face!). Since our furlough days will be on Fridays, I'm thinking of having furlough Friday classes! Sounds kind of exciting to me!! We'll see what I come up with. Well, I hope you all enjoy your Aloha Friday! Thanks for stopping by today and I'll see you again tomorrow!!

A few good teachers

Thank goodness the school year is over and we are getting a much needed break from school. Nolan took one online course this semester and completed with 100% on his cumulative test and we are so proud of him! Now that middle school is done, he will be a ninth grader at Kailua High School! I made this card to thank one of his teachers. This image was shared with me by Kyoko (thanks, girl!!). I think this was one of my best coloring yet. I was in a rush when I made and took this photo so no close up - boo hoo! Love this image called Sing from The Greetings Farm. Isn't she sweet? I made another gatefold card because it was so easy and fun! Sorry, but I'm now on a gatefold card kick and you will be seeing a series of that this week... Here's a card I made for another of Nolan's teachers. Nolan said she likes cats, so decided to ink up this cute image by Whipper Snapper Designs. Not bad for a card done the night before the last day of school!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Happy Friday to you. I hope your weekend is filled with alot of fun and memories - It's Father's Day weekend so Happy Father's Day to all you dad's!

You gals are the BEST!

Once again I am speechless! I know Nolan would be happy if once in a while I was speechless - LOL!! But seriously girls, I am truly blessed with wonderful friends like you! Here's some raks that I received recently. Sorry I didn't get a chance to post them until now! Without further adieu, here are the raks. THANK YOU SO MUCH to all of you who thought of me!
Got this cute Hello Kitty folder with bling from my GF Linda. Love this! I've already made use of the pearls and bling! This HK die also came from Linda. OMG, I feel like a spoiled little brat! I do LOVE it so much!! I better get a move on and make more cards and projects using this die. I love it more because HK is very "aloha!" Thanks girl, love the raks and you!Talk about taking the challenge. My GF Joy had lunch with me the other week along with Kyoko and Linda and we made the double shaker boxes. So of course, we had all of these pretty nice "scraps" that I was going to just throw out and Joy thought of making smaller double shakers with them. Here's what she came up with and what a great job she did!!
Look what else she gave to me. This cute Ava post-it-note holder. Isn't this the cutest?? Thank you so much Joy! I love this and you too!
Denise is always making sweet treats for me. She must know that I LOVE sweets! Chocolate that is! Oooh, loved these strawberry peanut butter m&m's...gotta get more!! Thank you Denise for always being so sweet to me!!
This rak is also from Denise. Every time Denise comes to my classes, she surprises me with a little rak. Don't you agree how sweet Denise is? Thanks girl!
This next rak came from Ivy from California. She won a little blog candy from me a while back and sent these goodies to me to thank me. Wow! a Thank you rak for a rak! Ivy loves owls, so I sent her back some of my latest owl images that I recently got from CTMH's new catty! I'll post that card soon. BTW, if you are interested in getting a free CTMH (Close to My Heart) catty, please let me know and I will hook you up with my GF Jean who is a consultant. I'll have more to share with you soon with images that I recently purchased from Jean!
There's one more rak to share and this one is from Jodi. She's another sweetie pie! More bling and these are square ones. Oooh, can't wait to use them! Also got the ballerina stamp from The Greetings Farm and a GC from Roses on Paper. Summer has tons of Magnolia stamps and lots of other fun items for you crafters! Go check out her website soon! You won't be disappointed.
Once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH from the bottom of my heart for these wonderful raks!! Thanks also to all of you who regularly visit my blog. I appreciate you!! See you soon!
